Second Advent: PEACE

Journey with us in a very special Upside Down Christmas podcast mini-series - featuring voices from across Canada who have found the themes of advent amidst life's greatest adversities.

In this week's episode, Bear Barnetson, Indigenous artist and follower of the Jesus way, joins Wendi Park in the unceded traditional territory of xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations, to share about pursuing peace amidst unpeaceful circumstances.

This week Bear, in collaboration with 24-7 Prayer Canada, releases his new book, ‘The Nativity Art Project’ and gives listeners a behind the scenes conversation about his art and writing.

In his book, Bear has decolonized the Story of Jesus’ birth, helping us to see Christ through an Indigenous worldview. He walks us through some of his beautiful artwork, explaining the deep spiritual meaning each piece holds and how it connects us to the Creator.

Bear brings clarity and understanding for us as a community on how we can pursue peace and reconciliation authentically with our Indigenous brothers and sisters this Advent season.

If you feel like you're struggling to find peace this season or desire to bring more peace into unsettled spaces, you don’t want to miss this episode. Bear's story will give you fresh perspective that will make your unsettled heart believe in God's abiding presence all around you and offers practical insight to journey well with others.
