Healing from trauma, discovering identity, and living in community—knowing and being known—happens most powerfully while being actively engaged in the created world.”
— Tim Smith
  • Tim is driven by a deep desire to know and be known, love and be loved, and to see others experience the same. He believes healing happens in safe, trust-filled relationships, where compassion and competence grow together. His heart is for children, youth, and families, especially those in hard places, to experience meaningful connection with God, themselves, and others.

  • Tim trains and mentors through trauma-informed care, often integrating the nature, sport, and experiential learning. With decades of experience in teaching, coaching, and camp leadership, he creates environments where people can heal, discover identity, and grow in community in ways that are both practical and deeply human.

  • Tim’s most meaningful moments with God and others are found in the water, on snow, and immersed in creation. His experience across three continents, combined with years working with youth at risk, fostering, outreach, and mentoring, has shaped a deeply relational, cross-cultural approach to care.

  • Tim holds a Master’s in Team-Based Communication, focusing on leadership, intercultural work, and spiritual formation. His research explored the integration of trauma-informed care in Christian camps in Canada.

He is a TBRI® Practitioner & Educator and a Trauma Competent Care Trainer with Trauma Free World.

  • Tim believes becoming like a child means growing in humility, wonder, and relationship. His vision is to see the Church united, caring well for the vulnerable, and creating spaces where people can heal from trauma, rediscover identity, and live in authentic, connected community.
