YOU JUST NEVER KNOW...
Harold & Wendi's worlds collided 2002 in seminary, where they both served on student council. It was a case where city Korean boy meets globetrotter Mennonite girl, bonded by research papers, psychology assessments, "solving world issues," and mostly by their mutual love for God and desire to serve others. They were married in 2005 and open to whatever adventure lay ahead - not knowing how different their path would take them. Their international made-in-Canada family consists of five children and two grandchildren ranging from toddler to young adults.
Wendi lives & breathes the mission of CareImpact. She completed her undergrad studies in Central & South America where she also was mentored by Indigenous leaders in church planting and community development. After she returned to Canada to complete a Masters in Global Studies through Providence with a peace mediation internship in the Middle East. Prior to founding this ministry, Wendi was the Executive Director of a multicultural family centre with The Salvation Army in Winnipeg. Wendi is passionate about reconciliation and inspiring Canadian church communities to love God and their neighbours. She is called to build uncommon healthy bridges with government, community & churches for the wellbeing of vulnerable children and families.
Harold is a therapist who specializes in trauma, attachment and parental resiliency. He is a TBRI® practitioner and certified in TCC, ETC and Circles of Security. While formerly a professional wine-maker and high-tech stocks investor, Harold's journey lead him to pursue his Masters in Counselling Psychology, and a career as a prison chaplain & family counsellor. He later completed his doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy out of Denver Seminary. Harold is passionate about helping people through active listening and offering evidence based supports. While Harold continues to offer training through CareImpact Academy, he provides executive oversight to the ministry while active as a therapist with Dr. Ian Mogilevsky & Associates, Jewish Child & Family Services, Winnipeg Child & Family Services, and Growing Self.
Harold (back centre left), Wendi (back centre right) and 6/9th of their family. They joke that with a family of 9, its a moving target to get them all in one photo. On Wendi's bucket list is a complete family picture, a feat she has yet to achieve - hence a bare living room wall. But why have a picture, when their house is full of live action!
